Sausage balls your family will love!
Years ago, when I learned to read ingredient labels and we decided to cut out processed foods I couldn’t find a good sausage ball recipe that didn’t require a baking mix. I tried several different ones, but they never seemed right. I found this recipe and we all fell in love with it. I was so excited at how easy and how good it was. It makes a great addition to any potluck. My kids can even make it by themselves. You can customize it to your liking with different types of bulk sausage or varieties of cheese.
Sausage Balls
1 pound Breakfast Sausage
8 oz Cheddar Cheese (grated)
3 cups All Purpose Flour(we prefer Einkorn)
1 1/2 Tbsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Salt
1/2 cup Water
Mix all ingredients into a large mixing bowl, I like to use my kitchen aid mixer. Mix with the dough hook until all ingredients are combined. Sometimes you may have to add a little more water if the mixture is to dry. Using a medium size stainless steel scoop(or your hands) scoop out mixture, roll into balls, and place onto baking sheets a few inches apart. Bake in hot oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. The sausage balls will have puffed up and will be brown. Let cool and enjoy.
Notes – Cheddar Cheese works great but you can also use other types such as montery jack, pepper jack, or colby.
