Hot Chocolate In The Slow Cooker Great for Parties

I love recipes where you can throw everything in a pot, let it simmer and not have to worry about it. This is one of those recipes. It makes it so easy to serve when friends come over. You don’t have to worry about it burning or forming a thick film on top. It’s also very affordable, and most of the ingredients you can keep in your pantry throughout the year until needed. Have a few chocolate chips, marshmallows, and candy canes, and maybe even some caramel sauce on hand, and it’s an instant hot cocoa bar. You can even buy some disposable coffee cups with lids so friends can take some on the go. We love to use those when we go look at Christmas lights.

Hot Chocolate for the Slow Cooker

6 1/2 cups water

1 12 ounce can of Sweetened Condensed Milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup cocoa powder

2 tsp vanilla

Combine all ingredients in slow cooker and whisk to combine.

Cover and cook on high for 2 hours or on low for 4 hours until the mixture is hot and ingredients have combined. I like to stir mine every 30 minutes or so.

Once the mixture is hot you’re ready to serve. I usually turn mine to the “keep warm” setting until we are ready to drink it.

Ladle into mugs and add your desired toppings, we like marshmallows or whipped cream.

Makes 6-8 servings

Notes – This recipe is very versatile you can replace some of the water with coffee, you can add in peppermint extract to make a mint hot chocolate, or cinnamon.

I’ve made this for a hot chocolate bar when having friends over, and it’s perfect for a snow day when the kids are coming in and out and want something to warm them up. I also like that most of the ingredients can be kept in the panty and pulled out when needed.

I hope you enjoy this recipe during the winter season and at your holiday get togethers as much as we do.
